Session this week

Hi everyone:
Ray Caldwell will be our guest leader this week.
If anyone hasn’t yet accessed youtube.com, you might want to have a look. There are literally hundreds (000’s?) of videos of musicians playing ITM, some famous (e.g. Kane Sisters) and many amateurs. There are 3 containing the 3 Sea Captains tune, one where it is being danced to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftnNRGgQL0c
and this is probably the speed that we should be playing it at the Chris Langan weekend.
Another example is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fO348UUhZzc where the piper plays the Scholar at normal tempo and then slowly, to help you learn the notes. Take a break from accessing ITM stuff and try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lbvSBNLLoo to see Tommy Emmanuel blazing away on his guitar..
Maybe we should video our performance and post it on youtube for all the world to see….. Hmmm.
See you on Wed. Come early and get one of the inner-circle seats which are always in high demand.
Regards,
Mike

Barnburner’s Practice Room

Bob (of the Traditional Irish Music Web site) just sent me a link to a great music resource. Do check it out:

Barnburner’s Practice Room: LOTS of tunes complete with audio files and music notation!

Session – getting close to end of season

We are getting close to the end of the season. ( I won’t be around for June). So here’s a chance to critique our performance and play those wonderful tunes again. We can start to plan for next year as I have a few ideas.

See you there and don’t forget the ceili this Fri. at the ROC. See the attachment for a nice new reel . Note from Debbie: I will find out the names of the tunes he attached.

For Wed Mar 22 session

I’m including something different this time. It’s a set dance (in jig time) called the Three Sea Captains. Please print it and bring it along with on Wed. Hope to see you all there.

Here’s one of the sketches I did last night, for those interested. You can see a few more here.

I’m putting together a page of friendly tips on Tranzac session etiquette for newcomers with the help of Karen and Denis, by the way, for posting on the Web site. If anyone has their own tips to contribute, please post them below (I’ll leave comments on for a few weeks but will have to turn them off again to discourage spammers) or send me e-mail. Thanks!
